SF Station Blows It Up
1. Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses @ The Fillmore, San Francisco, November 23, 2007
Seattle's Band of Horses graced the stage at The Fillmore last Friday night for a very sold out show. With great opening sets by singer/songwriter Tyler Ramsey and Aussie’s The Drones (who sounded kind a like The Mars Volta meets Wolfmother) the boys of Band of Horses had their way set for a killer show. Performing songs from their new album Cease to Begin and even playing with an axe tambourine Ben made the crowd swoon.
2. Devil Makes Three @ The Independent, San Francisco, November 24, 2007
I am not sure how to classify Devil Makes Three but country/ blues/punk. At the second of two sold out shows at The Independent this threesome from Sacramento via Santa Cruz just rocked it. They performed over an hour and a half of their unique tunes and made the crowd dance as if they were at a gospel show. Looking around the room I could see that the name of the band most definitely defined what happens at their shows.
3. Straylight Run @ Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, November 26, 2007
With simple lyrics and complex cords Straylight Run moved the crowd at the Great American on Monday night. I was impressed by John Nolan's vocals and sister Michelle's keys and vocals...it was also really cool to see kids clamoring to every note and word.
