Details: 2pm – 3pm PFLAG Support Group – Everyone is welcome. 3pm – 4pm: Elaine Shen-Rollins showing the film "Anyone and Everyone" Elaine Shen-Rollins will join us from KQED to show the new film "Anyone and Everyone" produced by the poet Susan Polis Schutz, who with her husband, developed the greeting card site bluemountain.com. The parents and GLBT children come from many walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and religious denominations. Some of us will recognize PFLAG friends - Cherokee Indian, API, and Spanish language activists. The heartfelt accounts of responses to children’s revelations personalize issues that are often de-personalized in political rhetoric. Beyond questions of gay rights, parents wrestle with their faith, rejection by other family members, the pain of their own lost dreams, and the fears born of their own and their community’s prejudice or ignorance. These deeply personal reflections make Anyone and Everyone an excellent tool for outreach. One mother said her son "loved us enough to take a chance". The love between parents and children is a powerful springboard for discussions about family, community, and the hard work of pluralism and accepting differences.
