Dear LGBT Community Sponsor,
We are working toward the development of an independent web site that would host a Bay
Area gay community calendar and business directory (+ home page, community page,
editorial pages, history, etc.). SF Station has purchased SFgay.org with a commitment to build
out an independent portal, completely separate from their sfstation.com pages, but with the
same database-driven strength as their SF Station site.
We have also committed to creating a fund-raising arm of this venture to raise money and awareness for projects such as the GLBT Historical Society Museum - finding a permanent home for the GLBT Historical Society’s museum and archives, preferably in the heart of the Castro District. This is one of many non-profit projects we would like to help fund. It is important to acknowledge what tremendous support there is for projects like this in the LGBT community, and it is important to us in building this site that we are out to truly benefit the community. We see a possibility of matching donation programs to help fund any number of LGBT non-profits. (Visit SFgay's Sponsorship Page)
The site is to be chiefly a site for the gay San Francisco Bay Area visitor, and a resource for the gay Bay Area resident. Tim Gaskin has agreed to offer streaming video from his show with he and Donna Sachet acting as the Welcoming Committee, and to use his show to showcase the online SFgay.org project. We are able to offer our supporters visibility on all fronts, as we are currently working in partnership with Energy 92.7, and we intend to roll out a gay tourism quarterly magazine, immediately following the launch of the site for distribution throughout Northern California. What is so exciting about this is that it is all user-input, so anyone can post their events and business listings (for free) and community writers can contribute articles, photos and other media. It is a self-service, regularly updated “fresh” program that people have motivation to visit frequently.
What we need is a consensus from everyone in the community that this is the way we should organize and communicate our local ‘happenings’ (and that it is not restricted to only San Francisco events).
This is why we are asking first-string firms and small businesses who have traditionally been the ones to be in the front of the line for projects with such high visibility. We must move quickly, and these offers will be on a first come-first served basis.
Please take a moment to review our sponsorship benefits and levels of participation. Give us a call at your convenience to discuss participation on behalf of your company.
Thank you for your consideration!
