San Francisco’s LGBT Community is all about charity. Nearly every party and performance has a beneficiary at the other end of it. The spirit of giving is so ingrained in the community that it is rare to raise a glass to your lips without having a portion of the proceeds going to a non-profit organization, one on a list of many favored by the community.
Giving is not just in the form of cash donations. So many people take the time to volunteer. In some cases, giving time, professional skill, or to lend your face and name to help has more impact because this is how lucrative events are launched and executed.
SFgay.org has, at the center of its purpose, a “circle of giving back” to the community. It is our hope that as the site grows into its role as a thriving part of our community life, we will become a vital partner to many non-profits we seek to benefit.
