| SF Station Blows It Up Snoop Dogg's West Fest hit The Fillmore on Sunday night with a slew of great MCs highlighted by Warren G and Snoop himself. With old school West Coast favorites like Tha Dog Pound, Western Union, Warzone putting down some fat rhymes and local boy Mr. F.A.B coming home with beats that made the place dance, it was the place to be. But once Snoop hit the stage the place really went crazy; the crowd followed the Dogg's every word and moving to every beat. I must say it was nice to see all this in a small and intimate venue like The Fillmore.More | | SF Station Blows It Up There is nothing I could say that hasn’t already been said about REM and Michael Stipe over the last 26+ years of their career so I am going to keep this short and sweet. Coming into the show I knew it was going to be something great and, man, was it; they played every song that I had wanted to hear along with all their new tunes, which are now attracting new fans who filled the way sold out Greek. Michael and the gang know how to rock a crowd not only with great songs but also simply with their stage presence.More | | SF Station Blows It Up The never ending line of British imports continues with Adele and thankfully it's still super good; following the footsteps of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, this girl is going to kick butt and take names and hopefully stick around for round two…Hitting the stage to a packed Bimbo’s and not shying away from saying that she needed a drink and smokes too much, she proceeded to bring it with tunes like Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" and her own “Cold Shoulder". With a voice and style that mixes rock, soul and everything in-between…this 19-year old is something to see, watch out for her debut 19.More | | SF Station Blows It Up If you haven’t heard of Robyn yet, I'm not sure where you have been. From David Letterman to The View the electro pop songstress has been blowing minds. This night was no different; from the first step she took onto the stage, the crowd screamed and danced with their hands in the air. Performing songs from her self-titled CD, with songs like “Who’s that Girl”, not only can this woman sing but she also has a hell of a stage presence.More | | SF Station Blows It Up There is nothing like a homecoming and there is nothing like one when you drop your album, and last Friday night SF's own Morning Benders did both. Hitting the stage at 330 Ritch to a packed room, the boys gave everyone a hell of a show. Performing songs from their new album Talking Through Tin Cans Chris and the boys showed what good lyrics and great notes can do on a stage. These guys rocked so hard that guitarist Joe Ferrell bled all over the place and still killed it.More | | SF Station Blows It Up I guess white guys have the sarcastic rap game in hand and coming from the shadows of artists like Atmosphere and Sage Francis is Mac Lethal, and last Thursday night he brought it down at the Bottom of the Hill. With quirky flows and dope beats, Mac made me a fan; his nerdy stage persona was interesting but once his mouth was open you knew it was only a visual trick.More | | SF Station Blows It Up There's nothing like roasting in the sun…well unless you're also listening to some good bands and watching some interesting people at Coachella. This year's Coachella Music and Arts Festival was really hip, with every kind of hipster band you could imagine from Justice to Cut Copy but also with some old favorites like The Verve, Portishead, Roger Waters and Prince gracing the stage. Overall, it was an interesting mix of new and old with some great highlights like Roger Waters performing the Darkside of the Moon in its entirety, Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip mix it up and The Raconteurs rocking the main stage.More | | SF Station Blows It Up Rilo Kiley returned to SF last Thursday night to droves of screaming fans and a beautiful light show at The Concourse. As always Jenny Lewis and the crew rocked the house with great tunes that made my feet stomp and my head rock from side to side. This was the second part of the tour promoting their new album Under the Blacklight, so we got to hear some great new tunes and some better classics.More | | SF Station Blows It Up Another installment of the Honda Civic Tour kicked out last Thursday night at The Warfield with a nice line up. Phantom Planet, The Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack and the tour headliners, Panic at the Disco, rocked the stage as fans danced and screamed all night. Known for their great staging Panic definitely stole the show and, judging by the screams of the fans and by the rumbling of feet, it was well deserved. Performing tunes from their new album Pretty Odd as well as some fan favorites, the boys rocked the crowd.More | | SF Station Blows It Up Walking into The Fillmore on Saturday night you always imagine seeing a great show and having a good time and this was one of those nights. From the first step that I took towards the stage, I knew this was going to be a show for the people with magician Justin Kredible, Bushwalla and The Makepeace Brothers and Jason gusting on all their sets. The man played like 5 hours. The fans most definitely got their dollars worth with Jason doing almost a 3hr set of his own stuff and that rocked the house.More |
