SF Station Blows It Up The outfit from Canada hit the stage in front of a full house this past Monday and blew the house down. P-Thugg and Dave 1's use of synths and guitar is a great intermixing of 80s pop/indie/altrock and electro. Performing hits from their current album Fancy Footwork and some old classics the boys made the kids sweat.More
SF Station Blows It Up The return of the Smashing Pumpkins to the Bay Area was marked with a 3 hour 7 minute set on Sunday July 15 as they began their 12 day residency at The Fillmore -- and what a show it was! The first time I saw the Pumpkins was as the Tibetan Freedom Festival in Golden Gate Park, and I have to say, man, do they still sound good...Both Billy and Jimmy killed it. Billy and the guys performed some old classics as well as songs from their new album Zeitgeist.More
SF Station Blows It Up The Deftones are a band that is hard to classify and in my eyes they are their own mish mash of sound . Last Monday night they definitely proved that they can still rock a crowd because from the first sound out of Chino’s mouth the entire floor became a mosh pit. With an impressive light show and an even more impressive sound, the boys from Sac showed the crowed that they were still on top performing songs from their current album Saturday Night Wrist.More
SF Station Blows It Up US Air Guitar returned to the Independent last week for the regionals and if you were there you got a treat. With crazed guitarness and pretty interesting choices of clothing these giants of air guitar competed for the chance to rep SF in New York for the US Championships.More
SF Station Blows It Up Going to see Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado at the Paramount Theater last Thursday night was an interesting experience. With a huge stage and a full band and dancers backing her, Nelly sang her heart out on stage as she performed new and old tunes and even some covers. This was little more than just a concert with Nelly changing her outfits fours times to match the tunes that she was belting out (thank God cause the first dress was something out of the movie The Fifth Element). But overall it was a great show.More
SF Station Blows It Up Last Saturday night 700 lucky guests got to experience a very intimate view of one of the world’s most infamous prisons thanks to Scion without doing anything wrong. The event of a lifetime was held on the legendary Alcatraz with live performances by Chicago’s Cool Kids, a fashion show presented by Look Models with Bahar Shapar [NYC], Del Forte [LA], performances by San Francisco’s Vau De Vire Society, and the first ever Alcatraz art installation with Sam Flores, Greg ‘P-Nut’ Galinsky, Romanowski, Ferris Plock, Maunuel ‘Gonzo’ Gonzales, Paul Hayes, Adam 5100, and Noel Spirandelli [NYC] that will remain on the island for weeks to come.More
SF Station Blows It Up Live 105’s BFD hit Shoreline Amphitheater with a vengeance last Saturday with 25 bands that ranged from local favorites like Street to Nowhere to legends of punk Social Distortion. Electro punk favorites The Faint closed the Budweiser stage with some old classics and new tunes that made the crowd freak out and dance. In my eyes, The Kaiser Chiefs stole the show on the main stage with their usual antics, acrobatics and amazing tunes.More
SF Station Blows It Up Arcade Fire performed the first of two sold out shows at Berkeley’s Greek Theater last Friday night. This being the second to last show of their current tour promoting their new album Neon Bible they put it all out and you could definitely see it. Richard Reed did something crazy like jumping into the aisle with a drum while Win's voice rang out over the screaming crowd. With amazing visuals and a sound so unique they simply killed it.More
SF Station Blows It Up New York City exports another great band with Priestbird (formally Tarantula AD). Seeing them at a small spot like the Hemlock was a hell of a time. These guys are damn talented with a sound that defies classification, but if I had to compare them I would to so to Arcade Fire. They performed music from their new album In Your Time.More
SF Station Blows It Up One of France's most famous musical exports hit the stage in front of a full house at San Francisco’s Masonic Center last Friday night. As always six guitars sounded in unison as the crowd oohed and aahed to every string that was struck. The Kings performed songs from their new album Pasajero released last September.More
