| About Suppenküche The long wooden tables which comprise seating at Suppenküche might initially seem at odds with upscale German cuisine, but as soon as you taste the whole sausage sitting in your ham soup, it all comes together in some obscure Bavarian way. Since Suppenkuche doesn't accept reservations for parties under six people, you might have a bit of a wait at the bar - like two hours - but that's all right since the restaurant stocks hard to find German imports, most on tap. The menu consists almost fully of (albeit, delicious) meat dishes, so if you're the type of vegetarian who won't eat beef, veal or pork, you're probably out of luck. Indulge yourself in spaetzle, instead. |

Editorial Review Suppenkuche By Gloria Tai (03/13/2007)" Never having been to a German beer garden, I can only imagine it to be like Suppenkuche, with perhaps many more tipsy souls in the surrounds. With few Bavarian restaurants in the city, this one does it right, with a folksy but cool atmosphere that is candlelit and furnished with pine bench seating. An impressive list of beers includes pilsners, wheat beer, bock beer and a few Belgians to boot. Speaking of boot, if you go with a group of friends and want to make it a true communal experience, request the 2-liter boot to guzzle from. Keeping in line with the authentic brews, the fare is hearty with lots of meat and potatoes. " |
