Description

Variety is more that just the name of Prince's favorite girl-singer sidekick. It's more than just having sex dressed as Alien Greenspan every once in a while. It's also a Literary Imperative! Which is why Writers With Drinks combines erotica with literature, stand-up comedy with science fiction and poetry with essays. Plus mystery, romance, memoir, rants and "other."

Writers With Drinks has won "Best Literary Night" from the SF Bay Guardian readers' poll four years in a row and was recently named "Best Literary Drinking" by the SF Weekly. The spoken word "variety show" mixes genres to raise money for other magazine, a national magazine for people who feel pigeonholed by mainstream media categories. The award-winning show includes poetry, stand-up comedy, science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, literary fiction, erotica, memoir, zines and blogs in a freewheeling format.
